Sunday 15th September – The Draw of the Golf Course.
Gmap ref: 6084280
Rik and Maccy set off from Bere Regis at 07.30 for a 20 mile 2 + 1/4 hour mainly off-road blast. Golf was the theme as Maccy was still bathing in the glory of playing 5 good shots, including 2 first shot bunker exits, losing only 5 balls when he played 9 holes at the Sandilands links course in Lincs last weekend. Not bad seeing as he’s only ever played twice before, over 10 years ago.
Spears and Frome Lane’s to Bere Heath and Hyde before diving into Cuckoo Pound to skirt East Dorset Golf Club, Buddens Scout Centre and Binnegar Quarry bringing us out to Wareham via Puddletown Road. Quick look at the development at The Purbeck School, (Rik very impressed), and up on the north Saxon walls around the town and then into Wareham Forest via Northmoor and our second bagged golf course. No proper bogs, no rain but great early sun and a definite Autumnal feel to the world.
Back home for bacon and home grown tomato toasted butties – yum, yum in our tum(s). Rik forced at knife point to take some veg – we can’t take them any more!
