Sunday 15th September – Circuit on cycle ways Bristol to Avonmouth and over the Avon Bridge

Gmap ref: 6085039

Pete T had to go it alone, not being in Dorset for the Sunday ride.

Pete T set off at 0800hrs Starting from Redcliffe Way ( by St Mary Redcliffe church ) , brief summary of the route is:

go though the boat yard  up to the roundabout , turn right and join the cycle path along the side of the river Avon for about a mile, take a gate exit at the end of the long straight before some old factory buildings, travel through a set of traffic lights, continue down the hill and turn right at the junction, following the road towards Avonmouth at this point and head towards the Portway. The cycle path is then 100% traffic free to the Motorway bridge at Avonmouth. Turn right before going under the motorway and pick up signs to join the Avon bridge cycle way, which is at the side of the motorway.

once over the bridge, signs are clear for the cycle route back to Bristol, dont lose heart through a housing estate, its the right way, undera railway viaduct and sharp left to pick up the clearly signed cycle way to Bristol which is gravelled track  until close to Bristol when it becomes tarmac.

pick up the cycle path again along the side of the river Avon and head back to Redcliffe Church.

A good 17 mile ride that only takes an hour and a quarter, has some smashing views and is pretty flat.
