With the hour shift and a spring in the air, (but sadly missing from Pete T’s front derailieur), we set off from Cafe’ Bere up Black Hill with a vague plan to abandon a visit to the now infamous and elusive, (maybe not non-existent), Obelisk at Weatherby Castle. Duly not visited we continued to Tollpuddle and its famous oak tree along previously unexplored farm track and field bridleways. Arriving well shaken but surprisingly short on mud cover, we stopped for sausage roll and drop scone breakfast at the said oak tree, enjoying the warmth of the morning sun. Exchanged shouts with young lad before setting off for the heights of Southover and Affpuddle Heaths. Puncture stop for Pete T, setting new record for longest tube change and most cursing at pumps and valves. We were even approached by a concerned dog walker to see if we needed help – not sure if she meant medical.
24 km travelled.
